
Patrick has over 25 years’ experience in arts and cultural management. Prior to joining the NFSA as CEO, he served as Executive Director of the Sydney Theatre Company for over 11 years. His earlier roles include Associate Executive Director of The Australian Ballet, General Manager of the Sydney Film Festival and Marketing Manager of the Sydney Opera House Trust and of the Sydney Dance Company.
As a producer, he has worked on a variety of projects including the world premiere of Muriel’s Wedding the Musical; Sydney Theatre Company’s The Present on Broadway, the first all-Australian cast to play a Broadway season; and in 2007, The Nutcracker Live – a live via satellite broadcast of a performing arts event into cinemas, which was the first of its kind in Australia, and was produced in partnership with the then Australian Film Commission’s Regional Digital Screen Network.
Patrick has held positions on a number of boards and advisory boards, including the Executive Council of industry body Live Performance Australia, the advisory board of the CREATE Centre at the University of Sydney, SCOPE for Artists, ArtsReady and the Deakin University arts management program. He was Chair of Streetwize Communications, a non-profit community publishing enterprise, and was a member of the NSW State Creative Industries Task Force.
Holding a BA (Communications) from UTS, Patrick has also worked extensively as a freelance music and entertainment writer, and has presented on arts management, audience development and the value of culture at conferences and events in Australia, the US and Hong Kong.
Jacqui is responsible for the ongoing development, preservation and sharing of our collection. She first joined the NFSA in 2015, occupying senior management and executive roles. Most recently, she was Director of Visual Arts and Design in the Australian Government Office for the Arts, and returned to the NFSA in 2020.
Jacqui first started in the Australian Public Service in 2001, having previously worked as an academic researcher. She has spent most of her career in the Australian Government arts portfolio working on major policy initiatives and reforms such as the 2013 National Cultural Policy, the 2011 Review of the Australia Council and the 2010 Review of Private Sector Support for the Arts.
Jacqui has a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and alumni of the Australia Council’s Arts Leadership Program.
Meagan Loader joined the NFSA as its Chief Curator in May 2024. She leads the NFSA’s curatorial team in the ongoing development of the national audiovisual collection, which includes video games, podcasts, virtual reality, web and social content alongside recorded music, cinema, news and current affairs, home movies, sporting, scientific and artistic recordings across a range of formats, and physical artefacts such as costumes, posters, entertainment hardware and ephemera.
During her 30-year career in the media industry, Meagan has built extensive experience in creating, curating and commissioning content across platforms for Australian audiences.
As Head of Music and Young Audiences at the ABC, Meagan oversaw digital, radio, podcast and TV content that engaged millions of Australians each week across triple j, Double J, triple j Unearthed, Hack on triple j, rage, ABC Classic, ABC Jazz, ABC Country and The Music Show on Radio National. Meagan was also the founding Program Director of independent youth broadcaster FBi Radio when the network launched in 2003.
Meagan has worked with creative teams at the forefront of emerging content formats and platforms to engage with audiences and communities on the platforms where they live with stories that reflect who they are. She is passionate about creating spaces and pathways for Australian storytellers, broadcasters, musicians and artists, and finding ways for more audiences to access that work and be a part of those conversations.
Rebecca heads the Collection Preservation branch, which includes Collection Management, Conservation and Collection Digitisation teams. She joined the NFSA in 2018, initially leading property strategy, and now coordinates functions that ensure the preservation and digitisation of the collection.
Rebecca is a proud Canberran with 20 years' experience in public-centred roles in national collecting institutions. She started her career in the visitor services team at Questacon – National Science and Technology Centre. She spent 16 years at the National Museum of Australia, training the first visitor services team for opening in 2001, and for over a decade, managed exhibitions, interpretative projects, partnerships and redevelopment of permanent galleries. Rebecca also worked in the Office for the Arts, managing a range of funding programs to support national outreach and implementation of the Protection of Cultural Objects on Loan Act.
Rebecca is committed to supporting membership-based GLAM organisations. She is an Executive Council member for the SouthEast Asia-Pacific AudioVisual Archiving Association (SEAPAVAA), a member of the Australia – Memory of the World committee and has held advisory positions with the Australian Museums and Galleries Association (AMAGA) and Craft ACT – Craft and Design Centre.
Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts, a Graduate Diploma in Cultural Heritage Management and a Master of Arts, Cultural Leadership. She is an alumna of the Oxford Cultural Leaders Program.
Dr Keir Winesmith joined the NFSA in January 2023. He is responsible for the delivery of the NFSA’s strategic digital roadmap, which develops new products and services to enhance discoverability and shareability of the national audiovisual collection for all Australians. Keir also heads up the NFSA’s project office and information and communication technology activity.
Keir joined the NFSA from the National Gallery of Australia, where he was the Tim Fairfax Head of Digital. Prior roles include Chief Technology Officer at Old Ways, New, an Indigenous-owned and managed social enterprise, and Director of Digital Experiences at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He has also worked at UNSW Art & Design, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney and at SBS Online.
He holds a PhD in New Media and a Science degree in Computer Science and Physics. He is the co-author of the 2020 book The Digital Future of Museums, he co-founded the Sydney Cultural Data Salon, and he is an inaugural mentor in the Australia Council’s CEO Digital Mentoring program.
Nicole joined the NFSA in late 2022. As Chief Marketing Officer, she is responsible for increasing public awareness, discovery and engagement on digitally-enabled platforms whilst implementing best practice in brand strategy, CRM and audience analytics.
Nicole was previously Director of Marketing and Customer Services at Sydney Theatre Company. As a member of the executive team for 11 years, Nicole led brand strategy, growth and audience experience. She collaborated with the artistic team, commercial producers and strategic partners on the Sydney-based and touring program.
Between 2003 and 2010, Nicole held several senior marketing roles at Sydney Opera House, where she helped launch many successful arts programs including the inaugural Vivid Live, the Festival of Dangerous Ideas and the Utzon Music Series.
Nicole has been a guest speaker at conferences and regularly participates in knowledge-sharing with other marketing executives from leading arts organisations within Australia, the UK and North America. Nicole began her career working in e-commerce and corporate marketing roles in Australia and London and has a Bachelor of Business from QUT.
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia acknowledges Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live and gives respect to their Elders both past and present.
