Parallel scratch lines running down the length of a film. Usually caused by the film emulsion or base accidentally coming into contact with solid parts of machinery (such as projector, printer, processor).
Another way for them to form is if a projector gate is dirty and film is continued to be projected without cleaning then dirt will build up and damage the film. Always clean a projector gate before you use it.
