Telecine machines are electro-mechanical machine used to convert film image to a video signal, often for videotape transfer or television broadcasting of films. Manufacturers include Rank Cintel and Bosch.
Flying Spot Telecine is a device where the scanning is achieved by movement of a bright spot on a CRT screen. The resultant scanning ‘patch’ is projected onto the film frame, the total light passing through the film being measured by a single light-sensitive device (or three for RGB).
