Counter
A footage or metre counter which measures the length of film. Counters used in the television industry also count in frames; or in time (hours, minutes, seconds).
Counters can be electronic or mechanical.
Use caution when winding through shrunken, brittle material to avoid damaging the perforations. The length of extremely shrunken material may have to be estimated rather than an exact measurement.
