The Lumière Collection includes some of the oldest footage in the NFSA collection: over 30 short films made in 1899.
Produced by Frederick Charles Wills and Henry William Mobsby, these films record Queensland agricultural processes and daily life in Sydney and Brisbane. This collection includes footage of trams, trains and ferries: an early record of public transport designed to meet the needs of Australia's growing cities.
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia acknowledges Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we work and live and gives respect to their Elders both past and present.
