Permissions

Material on this website, including images and preview clips, may ONLY be downloaded, displayed, printed or reproduced for personal, NON-commercial use in an unaltered form.

You MUST seek prior written permission from the Film Australia Collection (FAC) Library  for any COMMERCIAL use (eg print publication, advertising, merchandising) or if you wish to retransmit or distribute the material in any way (eg broadcast, internet, DVD, video). Reproduction and handling fees may be charged - see our rate card.

You DO NOT have to seek permission if you are using it for research or study purposes (eg in a school project or education handout).

However, you MUST NOT remove, cover or edit the watermark (Film Australia, Screen Australia, or NFSA logo) from the image or clip.

You MUST acknowledge National Film and Sound Archive  as the source of the material.

Copyright

This website and most of the material on it is copyright and thus protected by the Copyright Act 1968 of the Commonwealth of Australia or by international copyright conventions.

The FAC Library can assist you in determining the copyright status and holder of specific material in the collection

In some cases, you may need to obtain written permission from people or institutions other than the NFSA before we can supply the material, or there may be restrictions as to how the material can be used.

Other Terms and Conditions

The NFSA must be acknowledged in the credits of productions when using material supplied by the Film Australia Collection Library as "Footage supplied by the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia’s Film Australia Collection" or as otherwise agreed.

Material is licensed on a non-exclusive basis, for one use in one production as specified in the Licence Agreement. Uses outside those expressed in the Licence Agreement require the permission of the FAC Library.

On completion of the client's project, master material provided by the FAC Library must be erased.

Clients are liable for any damage or loss incurred to FAC Library's material whilst in their possession.

A non-refundable minimum licence fee is payable on supply of the material on broadcast-quality format.

The Licensee shall be responsible for all transfer costs, freight, couriers and customs duties in respect of their copied master material.

All prices quoted are in Australian dollars.

Australian residents are subject to 10 per cent Goods and Services Tax (GST). Goods exported out of Australia are GST free.

Zero Fee Licensing

Some Australian independent documentary makers may be able to license material from the FAC Library without paying a licence fee. See Zero Fee Licensing for more information about eligibility and specific terms and conditions.
