Scholars and Artists in Residence

The National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) encourages and facilitates research into Australia's historic and contemporary moving image and recorded sound culture.

Research Fellowships
The NFSA offers Research Fellowships for established researchers and audiovisual practitioners with a record of significant achievement. Senior academics, scholars, writers, filmmakers, artists and archival professionals from Australia and overseas are encouraged to apply.

The fellowships involve a residency at the NFSA in Canberra, with accommodation supplied. Fellows can use the NFSA's collections to stimulate or otherwise inform an academic publication, a new sound or moving image work, or a live event.

Indigenous Research Fellowship

The Indigenous Research Fellowship is an opportunity for Indigenous Australian researchers and creative practitioners to engage with the national collection and contribute to Australia's historical and contemporary moving image and recorded sound culture.

SAR InternshipsThe NFSA offers an Internship Program open to tertiary students , from Australia and overseas, to undertake a research project that will expand knowledge and understanding of the NFSA's collection and audiovisual archiving practices.
